The San Jose Turfgrass Education Initiative is a community outreach program for San Jose's inner-city youth. The SJTEI program offers middle school and high school students the opportunity to explore the turf and landscape industry and the game of golf through:

- Scholarships
- Career and Job Opportunities
- Golf Outings
Study Tours take place at San Jose Muni, Los Lagos and Rancho Del Pueblo in San Jose and environmental science-related venues. Study Tours are funded by OTEI affording public and charter school students in San Jose the opportunity to learn about environmental science, agronomy, and the game of golf at little to no cost. Middle school and high school classes in San Jose are encouraged to contact OTEI to discuss organizing a Study Tour.
